About
Please get in touch if you you are looking to hire a historian.
I provide heritage and historical consultancy services for private clients, professional researchers, academics and organisations. My work include family, local and house history research as well as brickwall problem-solving, transcription, archive management, oral histories, writing up research, and archival research. My clients include charities and organisations such as the Historic Towns Trust and the Salespeople's Charity.
I visit archives across Britain including county record offices, university special collections, libraries and national institutions. I am on The National Archives' list of Independent Researchers and at the Caird Library, National Maritime Museum. Regularly visited sites include the British Library, The London Archives (formerly London Metropolitan Archives), Lambeth Palace Library, Guildhall, LSE Women's Library and Westminster Archives. I also carry out online research.
Additionally to my research work I teach at the University of York where I am a doctoral candidate. I am also a tutor for Pharos Tutors, give talks to history organisations, serve as a Trustee of the British Association for Local History and sit on the editorial board of The Historian, magazine of the Historical Association.
